Misconceptions

Hi guys I'm back!
Today I'm gonna write a rather serious post so brace yourselves if you want to. I'll give you a clue about what it is regarding first and then let you decide for yourself if you want to go on reading.
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lretlx66so1r0wmldo1_500.pngI found this image on tumblr (to my dismay), and I thought I would like to clear some doubts. I'll be explaining it through my religion, Islam. And I'm gonna try my best to be as accurate as possible, so forgive me if I'm wrong. I also consulted my Ustaz (religious teacher) before going on with this.
All in all, it's still up to you to go on reading what I'm about to say. So yup.

1) "Killing people in My name"
Bismillahiramanirrahim. Allah swt says in the Quran: Jihad is ordained upon you though you dislike it... Verse 218, surah Al Baqarah.
Going back through history, it was told during the time of the prophet Muhammad saw, Allah did not command for the prophet to fight against the pagans before migration to Medinah, until the peoples' faith towards Islam became stronger, when the prophet was told to fight
only as a defence against the pagans. The battles were started due to the mistreatment and threats received my the Muslims, and so they were thus commanded to defend themselves.
In verse 190-192 of the Surah Al Baqarah, Allah swt said: And attack them if they kill first.
In addition to that, the prophet also says not to kill women, children and senior citizens (unless they participated in the war).
So to conclude for this part of the comic, from the prophet's time, it would be okay to fight in order to defend, because that was the command from Allah swt himself.
2) About hating on gay people:
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. In the opening verse of surah An Nisaa' , Allah says: "O mankind, be dutiful to Allah whom has created you all from a single soul (Adam) and from him, his wife (Eve) was created and from both of them, many men and women were created."
In the same surah, verse 3. Allah says: "... (for the men) Get married to 2, 3 or 4 women. But if you afraid you'd do unjust to them, then get married to only one (woman)." Allah permits men to get married up to 4 wives(not with the same sex). But if they can't do justice, one is lot more better.
In surah Al Baqarah verse 223, Allah says:" Your wives are your tilth for you, so go to your tilth, when and how you will, and send (good deeds, or ask Allah to bestow upon you pious offspring) for your ownselves beforehand..."
One of the main important reasons for marriage is to reproduce offspring to continue the spread of Islam. And also, during the Prophet Lut's time, he was sent to spread Islam, and to lead the people (who were participating in acts of sodomy) towards the right path. However, when they did not listen to him, they were punished by Allah, and their cities (Sodom and Gomorrah) were turned upside down. And the remains of these can still be seen today.
For me, what I believe that for every men there's a woman, and that's just natural.
3) "Oh because the Bible says so" (I'll do it in the context of the Quran):
In the context of the Quran, our generation is the one which follows the Quran and the Sunnah of the prophet, because after all, he is the final messenger and whatever major changes that had been made to our religion were finalised during his time not counting that of interpretations made by different schools of thought. And whatever is happening in the world today is in fact written in the Quran, proving to us that Allah swt knew what would happen in the future, so technically the Quran is not outdated. And so, it's not old and thus still has to be followed.

This has been a very long post. Again, please do forgive me if I have made any mistakes above, and I hope this post has been enriching to those of you who have read it.
