Harry Potter

Many people in my generation have grown up watching Harry Potter. It has really been a wonderful journey all the way from Book 1 to Book 7! It is also rather difficult for me to accept the fact that there will be no more Harry Potter after this. The elements J.K. Rowling has instilled in the story such as friendship, love, courage and sacrifice all interlink and play an important role in making the story an amazing one.
Friendship
It amazes me how Harry is able to maintain his relationship with Ron and Hermione for a very long time. They seemed to have found each other right from the beginning, although there were a few bumps initially because Ron dislikes Hermione and all, but it all seemed to work out in the end. The quests that Harry had to undertake were not done alone; his best friends voluntarily sacrificed their lives to help him, portraying true friendship. No matter how many times each of them got angry at each other, they seemed to forgive AND forget whatever shortcomings that had happened before. Even if they're having rough patches, they still try their utmost best to look out for each other. It's difficult to find friendship like this, and I think this story kind of shows us that it is in fact possible to find such people if we make the right decisions of who to hang around with and so on. The love that each of them had for each other blossomed beautifully into a very strong bond.
Love
The main thing that touched me in the seventh book was the love Snape had for Lily Potter. It started off when he was only an innocent child, and as they spent more time together, his had more love for her. Even though they thought very differently and didn't see eye to eye, he thought she was the most beautiful person he'd ever seen. He loved her so much that he was willing to let her go eventually to James Potter, whom she had fallen for. He still loved her even though she had moved on, and when she died, a part of him was torn away. During the movie, when I saw him crying over her dead body, I cried too. I'm sure he missed the liveliness of her spirit, the sound of her voice, the look in her eyes, and her beautiful smile. He loved her so much so that he protected Harry, because that was the least he could do for her. Even though he hated James, he risked his life for Harry. And we can see that Lily is always on his mind and heart because of the doe patronus that he forms, which is the same as hers when she was alive. Snape had gone through a lot of heartache throughout his life, but he stayed strong, and did whatever he could because he knew that Lily would have wanted that of him. Even though she didn't love him the way he did, he still held on.
Courage
Every day, everyone of us goes through something difficult, or if not, something that would require us to put in slightly more effort so things can work out. Courage is what pulls you through any task. If you're determined and you want to achieve something at all costs, you would pluck up enough courage to get you through whatever obstacles that lay in front of you. The courage that all the good people in the movie had really awed me. Take for example Neville Longbottom. Many people often looked down upon him, but as he grew older in the Harry Potter books, he became more courageous to stand up for himself and for the people around him. All the other people in the Order and Dumbledore's Army were already on guard and ready to fight for what they believed in, and this is what true courage is all about.
Sacrifice
Harry had to make a lot of sacrifices in the movie. Many other people also had to do so, some at the cost of their own lives. One of those that touched me, was Collin Creevey. He first appeared in Harry Potter in the 2nd book, the Chamber of Secrets. He respected Harry, and technically idolised him. He has good will though, and even though he was not an experienced student, he risked his life to fight for Hogwarts, but sadly he didn't make it. And another one would be Lupin! He had a son, but he went forth to fight instead. To him, he was fighting for a better life for his son. Even though he would not be able to watch his son grow and all, he believes that the choice he made was for the best. And I think this would generally be painful for a parent; to part from their own child. And of course, Lily Potter. She knew in that instant she was going to die, and there was a high chance that the same thing were to happen to Harry when he was an infant. But she stood firmly on the ground to block him from whatever danger there was. A mother's love for her child is priceless, and Lily did prove this.
Growing Up
I've watched Harry Potter right from the beginning and have read all the books in the sequel just like more than millions of people in the world have. Watching him grow from an 11 year old to a 17 year old, and then having a glance at his 36 year old life awed me. He changed so much, and he grew up learning more about himself and the people around him, very much like what I'm doing now. This portion of the story serves to me as a reminder that time does pass by very fast, and it is important for me to instill values in myself which I can carry with me throughout my life. Also, whatever decisions I make during my teenage years DOES have a toll on my future. My future is also looming, so it is important that I prepare myself for it.
Harry Potter indeed is an amazing movie, and I really am going to miss it.
