The Golden Rule
Wednesday, 13 April 2011 @ 21:54

That which you want for others, seek for mankind.
Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you.
Never impose on others what you would not choose for yourself.
Do unto others what you want others to do unto you.

Basically the same idea in all these 4 quotes. There are more of these, and every religion seems to have this practice. Well, it's not only a practice of religions, I guess. I would say it's something that is generally nice to do.

Maybe I'm just being anal here, but some things really get to me. But I can't help it, I'm human. I'm sure you are too. :)

Today my focus is on the Golden Rule which revolves around the idea as shown above. It is a simple rule, very easy to remember, but yet, even more difficult to accomplish. I think when people decide upon taking certain actions, they should think about how it affects others before they actually commit it.

I would think certain things are pretty much obvious and written all over your face, but it always confuses me as to why people do certain things which are obviously not very fair to others. I don't think looking out for yourself works out very well. And it isn't exactly fair to the others of the same shoes when you look out for yourself while they work around their busy schedules to make things work out.

Think about it; you wouldn't like it if people took the easy way out while you take the more difficult alternative, which is supposedly what everyone else should be doing as well. By doing it the right way, you're not only being thoughtful, but you're also challenging yourself. Life isn't always going to be easy, and you cannot always skip the obstacles and just jump to the easy parts. You have to go through them like everyone else.

That isn't the main point I'm trying to bring up tonight, however. All I'm trying to say is that people should think about how their actions affect others and not themselves.
