Read this if you're angry

People have different moods. Many of them tend to be uncontrollable for a moment. To me, one of the more uncontrollable moods would be anger.

We get angry for various reasons with different people. It could be with your parents, siblings, spouses, friends, colleagues, and the list goes on. The fight could last for a short while, with both parties apologising to end it off. It could also last for a very long time, because one or both parties refuse to give in. I would like to share a Hadith that was stated by Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The best of you are those who are slow to anger and swift to cool down...Beware of anger, for it is a live coal on the heart of the descendants of Adam." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 1331

This serves as a good reminder to me about the way we should handle our anger. To me, if we let the anger boil inside us, it can turn into something ugly. If we keep thinking about it, it won't go away, but instead, it will grow. However, if we simply take the time to take deep breathes and calm down, we would immediately feel lighter and less heated. That's the way it should be.

Relationships become spoiled in time if any fight does not come to an end. This would be usually because both parties feel they aren't exactly at fault, and thus should not be the one to make the first move. Well, this is certainly wrong. You won't get anywhere if no one says anything. If you are thinking of giving the silent treatment to the other party, you know you will have to start talking in time anyway, so why not talk sooner? This is a better option as compared to letting the anger have freedom to grow within you.

To end this post off, I would just like to tell you guys, when you're angry, do what you think makes you calm. Perhaps eating your favourite snack, shouting into your pillow or listening to music will make you feel less agitated. After that, go to the person you're angry with, sit down, and reason with him or her calmly. Whatever you do, don't yell. Make sure this reasoning does not turn into another fight. :)

And automatically, you'll feel as though some weight has been lifted of your shoulders. There, feels good, doesn't it? :)
